Akai is proud to introduce the AD173X, a High Definition Set Top Box with built-in up-scaling DVD Player and Personal Video Recorder. The AD173X offers consumers the ability to watch full high definition TV, DVD’s and record digital TV straight to a USB storage device conveniently in the one unit.

The full high definition TV tuner converts your existing TV to digital, enabling you to enjoy more TV channels plus all of the other benefits that digital TV has to offer including providing a clearer, sharper picture, and improved sound quality.

Featuring a built-in 1080P up-scaling DVD player the AD173X enhances the resolution of normal DVD’s to a maximum of 1080P, thus viewers can be confident that they are always watching movies at the highest quality and resolution that is possible on their existing TV.

Consumers can also record TV shows directly to a USB storage device using the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) function. The PVR allows you to schedule a show to be recorded using the seven day Electronic Program Guide (EPG), which conveniently displays the details of current and upcoming programs for the week, ensuring that you never miss out on your favourite shows.

With photos, music and movies increasingly being stored in digital format the AD173X’s USB connection offers a simple way to view and listen to your media collection on your TV through the easy to use media centre playback interface. The AD173X also features time shift capabilities enabling you to pause, rewind and fast forward live TV so that you can replay exciting TV and sporting moments that may have been missed. 

The parental lock function offers peace of mind to parents that are concerned about their children viewing unsuitable content, by offering the ability to restrict access to TV programs and DVD’s based on their classifications.
